Register Madurai Got Talent

Rules for Madurai Got Talent Preliminary Round

  • Category A – classes 6th std to 12th std [Age Group: 11 to 17 years]
  • Category B – Colleges and Open to General Public( Age 18 years and above)
Registration
  1. Schools/ colleges have to fill the registration excel sheet with the required details before the 25th July and mail it to [email protected]
  2.  Any audio to be played during the audition have to be mailed (in mp3 or WMA format) before 25th July and a copy has to be carried along during performance (on a pendrive)
Prelims Details

Date: 27th July (Saturday)
Venue: Mahatma School, Pudhur Campus

Registration Time:

  • Category A: 8:00 AM onwards (morning session)
  • Category B: 1:00 PM onwards (afternoon session)

EVENTS

Singing competition

Eligibility
  1. Solo, Duo or group performance is allowed 
  2. No. Of participants – Cat A/B Maximum 4 teams per school – 2 solo and 2 group (max 10 in a group)
  3. Time limit – Maximum 3 mins per performance (exceeding which judges may deduct points)
Song Selection
  1. Song Choice: Participants may choose their own songs, but the lyrics should be appropriate..
  2. Original vs. Cover: Original compositions and cover songs are allowed.
  3. Language: Tamil or English 
Performance
  1. Accompaniment:  participants can use background tracks, and acapella performances are allowed.
  2. Stage Setup: Background tracks have to be handed over in advance to the mentioned mail Id and a back-up copy should be in hand.

Music band competition

Eligibility 
  1. No of teams – Cat A/B : 2 teams per school / College
  2. Minimum 2 instruments to be used on stage (keyboard/guitar/percussion/wind/Indian instruments)
  3. Time limit – Maximum 6 mins after 2 min sound check 
  4. No solo entry 
  5. No auto rhythms, no karaoke 
  6. Mics, Amplifiers and basic drum kit will be provided 
  7. Multiple Vocalists are allowed 
Performance
  1. Genres: All music genres are allowed (e.g., rock, jazz, metal, classical).
  2. Original vs. Cover:  Both original compositions and cover songs are allowed.
  3. Stage Setup: Equipment provided – microphones, amplifiers, drum kit
  4. Sound Check: Bands will have 2 minutes for a sound check before their performance.

Dancing competition

Eligibility
  1. Solo, Duo or group performance is allowed 
  2. No. Of participants – Cat A/B: Maximum 4 teams per school / College. 2 solo and 2 group (max 10 per group)
  3. Time limit – Maximum 3 mins solo/ 5 mins Group per performance (exceeding which judges may deduct points)
Performance
  1. Dance Styles: Participants can showcase any dance style 
  2. Music: Any music of choice.Participants must provide their music in advance and also bring a back up

Stand-up comedy competition

Eligibility
  1. No. Of participants – Cat A/B: 2 participants per school/ college
  2. Time limit – Maximum 3 mins performance per participant (exceeding which judges may deduct points)
  3. Topic – Participant’s choice 
Performance
  1. Content: content must be original and created by the performer.
  2. Language: Tamil or English language is acceptable.
  3. Appropriateness: Explicit language or controversial topics should be clearly regulated.
  4. Delivery: Speech must be memorised by  participants

Public speaking competition

Eligibility
  1. No. Of participants – Cat A/B: 2 participants per school/college 
  2. Time limit – Maximum 3 mins performance per participant (exceeding which judges may deduct points)
  3. Topic – Participant’s choice 
Speech Performance 
  1. Delivery: Speech must be memorised by  participants
  2. Language: Speeches can be delivered in Tamil or English 
  3. Originality: All speeches must be the original work of the participant.
  4. Sources: Proper citation of sources if the speech includes factual information.

General Conduct Rules

  1. Respect and Courtesy: All participants must treat fellow contestants, judges, and organizers with respect and courtesy at all times.
  2. Punctuality: Arrive on time for all scheduled performances, rehearsals, and meetings. Latecomers may be disqualified.
  3. Dress Code: Wear appropriate attire for your performance. Costumes should be respectful and suitable for a family audience.
  4. Preparation: Be fully prepared for your performance. Ensure that all props, music, and equipment are ready and functioning.
  5. Conduct Backstage: Maintain a calm and respectful demeanor backstage. Follow instructions from event staff and avoid disruptive behavior.
  6. Performance Content: Keep performances family-friendly. Avoid inappropriate language, gestures, or themes.
  7. Safety First: Prioritize safety in all performances. Avoid dangerous stunts or actions that could cause harm to yourself or others.
  8. Compliance: Adhere to all rules and guidelines set forth by the organizers. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
  9. Feedback Acceptance: Accept judges’ feedback graciously and use it constructively, whether positive or negative.
  10. Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event.
  11. No Substance Abuse: The use of alcohol, drugs, or any illegal substances is strictly prohibited.
  12. Respect for Property: Treat all event property, including venues, equipment, and props, with care and respect.
  13. Avoid Controversial Topics: Performances should not include controversial topics related to religion, caste, or any other sensitive issues.
  14. Judging: Judge’s decision is final and standing
  15. Competition: All prelims competitions will happen simultaneously. Avoid taking part in more than one event.

 Results

  1. The results of the events will be announced immediately after the event once the judges have corroborated the scores.
  2. Top 10 teams from Category A and B will be eligible for the semifinals from which top 5 from each category will selected for the Finals.
  3. Any doubts or questions about the prelim events should be clarified before the end of the event. Questions raised after the completion of the event will not be dealt with.

Maa Madurai Quiz - Terms & Conditions

1. Eligibility

  • The quiz is open to all students currently enrolled in a recognized educational institution.
  • Participants must be able to present a valid student ID card on the day of the quiz.

2. Dress Code

  • All participants are required to attend the quiz in their school or college uniform. Entry will be denied to those not in uniform.

3. Required Items

  • Participants must bring the following items:
    • Student ID Card: Mandatory for verification.
    • Exam Pad: To provide a stable writing surface.
    • Pens: Required for answering questions; bring at least two pens.
    • Water Bottle: To stay hydrated during the quiz.

4. Conduct

  • All participants are expected to maintain decorum and respect the rules of the quiz.
  • Any form of cheating, misconduct, or disturbance will result in immediate disqualification.

5. Entry & Participation

  • Participants must arrive at the venue at least 30 minutes before the quiz starts for registration and seating arrangements.
  • Late arrivals may not be allowed to participate.
